CVE-2025-49125

HIGHEPSS 89th pctl
7.5
CVSS v3
NVD

Description

Authentication Bypass Using an Alternate Path or Channel vulnerability in Apache Tomcat. When using PreResources or PostResources mounted other than at the root of the web application, it was possible to access those resources via an unexpected path. That path was likely not to be protected by the same security constraints as the expected path, allowing those security constraints to be bypassed. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.7, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.41, from 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.105. The following versions were EOL at the time the CVE was created but are known to be affected: 8.5.0 through 8.5.100. Other, older, EOL versions may also be affected. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.8, 10.1.42 or 9.0.106, which fix the issue.

Common questions

How do I fix CVE-2025-49125?

Published advisories record a fix for 99 affected products. The "How to fix" section on this page lists the fixed version and source advisory for each one, so apply the entry matching what you actually run.

Is CVE-2025-49125 being actively exploited?

Not that we know of. CVE-2025-49125 is not in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Its EPSS score of 3.5% is the estimated probability that it will be exploited in the next 30 days. That is higher than 89% of all scored CVEs.

How severe is CVE-2025-49125?

CVE-2025-49125 has a CVSS v3 base score of 7.5, rated high. CVSS rates the technical impact if the vulnerability is exploited, not how likely that is, so weigh it alongside the exploit-prediction score when you decide what to patch first.

What does CVE-2025-49125 affect?

Published advisories record a fix for tomcat10 (Amazon), tomcat10-admin-webapps (Amazon), tomcat10-docs-webapp (Amazon), tomcat10-el-5.0-api (Amazon), and 95 more. Only products with a sourced advisory are listed, so treat this as what we can cite rather than a complete inventory.
